Starlings

A rowdy crowd of starlings

Strikes our feeder hit and run

Their jewelled breasts disguising

Hearts of rascalry and fun

While marauding round the district

In an acrobatic storm

They attract approving glances

With the feats that they perform

While their squabbles are incessant

They are harmless, don’t you see?

Never seeking confrontation

Only camaraderie
