Long Distance

This journey called Life won’t be hurried

We must live it one day at a time

Any faster and our fantasies drown us

Any slower, and we fragment the rhyme

For in counting the minutes we falter

And the steps of our dance become tense

While, with eyes on some distant horizon

All too vague, we trip over the fence

So we walk, with a day’s worth of hoping

And we grow, with the thorns and the smiles

Never knowing how far we’re allotted

But with hearts set to cover the miles
