Transfixed

In a wooded glade, in a shaft of light

Found unexpectedly

I stood transfixed in pure delight

At what it was to ‘be’

Bathed golden in those gentle rays

Not needing explanation

I felt perfection then, and hope

A child of God’s creation

And many years would pass before

I felt that glow again

Earth’s far-flung corners I would tour

To find what I found, then
