On the Plane

The first discontent was a juddering lurch

A dip to the starboard sill

Horrified faces incredulous stared

The moment the world stood still

Puttering engines feigned turbulence

Shaking the fuselage

Skies were clear with no hint of defeat

Oceans were blue and large

Then a cacophony, pleading and prayer

Then Heaven turned to Hell

Loved ones and friends, even strangers besides

Chanted their last farewell
