In the Small

In the small is the point of it all

Is the point of it all

The giant wall mural, broad detailed and screaming

Has no more to say than the miniature, gleaming

Or who can propose that the vast elephant

Means more to the world than the tiniest ant?

The kettle boils, and the world moves on

We each play a part, seen by others or none

Our best contribution, though we may not mind it

Is trapped in the tiny, where others may find it

Each breath and each word, though not counted or noted

Come together to form all the life you’ve devoted

To things that you choose on a miniscule scale

Small patterns of good, in exquisite detail
