The Sill of Heaven

Let me rest my chin upon the sill of Heaven

Hoisted up by unseen shoulders from below

Let me gaze at hidden glories for a short while

Before I, into my busy day must go

Let me breathe the sights and harmonies of Heaven

Briefly there, but not belonging at this time

Let me join the thronging joyful in my mind’s eye

Knowing one day, mine may be this gift sublime

Let me dream, and hope, and dance just for a moment

Knowing life, in all its colours must play out

Let me sink back, not defeated now, but strengthened

Having glimpsed the golden future, beyond doubt
