Peacock

I know a place a peacock roosts

How irresistible

To feed him morsels, see his gleam

No sight more beautiful

Though sharp of eye and cruel of beak

His wondrous panoply

Transfixes with a thousand stares

And mesmerises me

With gilded lustre he stands proud

His gaze is pure disdain

Yet pleased am I to stand beneath

His splendid, haughty mien
