Humility

By your standards Lord, and by no other

Should I judge my words and deeds

Not by sister, Lord and not by brother

Nor the prettiness of other creeds

Not what I permit or disallow, Lord

Let this not be what I teach

Let me always disavow, Lord

Anything but what you preach

May I never set my compass

By the frailty of this heart

Lest I reach the mighty impasse

Lost beyond the place thou art

Keep me humble to discover

True perfection in your ways

In the hope that I’ll recover

Fit to taste eternal days
